As well as the new jacket I also bought one of these:
![]() It's a Knox Contour. Have been meaning to get one for ages. I wore it on my ride on Sunday (164 miles) and after a few miles I forgot I had it on. It is VERY comfortable, fits like a glove, does NOT make you hot, is fully adjustable and fits well under the jacket. I feel a bit of a pillock for putting it off for so long, stupid really, especially after a certain mishap 2 years ago. It cost £100 - so not the cheapest on the market - but 10/10 for comfort. I hope never to test its impact protection ![]() Ed |

I'll back that up cos I have road tested mine! I have had it since Blueflame's off in March and can't praise it more - especially when I fell off and broke five ribs. The doc said that without it, I would quite likely have broken my back and punctured a lung. Oh and not a bruise in sight. He said it was the best £100 I have ever spent.

Is there much between different protectors as long as you have one?
I'm thinking safety rather than comfort. |

I got the Knox gilet jacket with contour back protector built in which I wore to the AR06. Really comfortable apart from the fact the removable chest protector makes it feel like a life jacket.

Should back protectors be replaced after a crash
![]() Mine has gone through 2 off's, and I certainly landed on my back after the second as I can see the pattern of the back protector stamped onto my leather jacket ![]() It seems OK, although it feels a bit more flexible that when I first had it any thoughts |

I think they're entirely different with regard to construction than a helmet and unless you can see/feel some physical damage I'm sure it'll be fine.
