3 Months ago an elderly neighbour living alone was the victim of bogus official, whilst they did not hurt/frighten her, she never the less gave up her will to live and died about 10 days later.
Now yesterday another elderly couple nipped out for less than 15 Min's and came home to their front door kicked wide open and all their jewelry etc missing. Whoever did this must have targeted them by seeing them leave and lock the door, thus indicating that there was nobody else in the house. I live in a small estate of about 30 houses with mostly elderly neighbours. it is not a through road so there is no "Passing" traffic. In the past 5 years 6 houses have been burgled. There have been two attempts on mine judging by the screwdriver indents on my window and door frames. 2 years ago, my wife alerted me to a man going to selected houses knocking on the door and then having talked to the occupant go elsewhere. she watched him disappear up a neighbours drive. I got dressed and went up the neighbours drive, looked into the back garden saw nothing and walked away. Imagine my shame when I discovered that their patio doors had been forced and they had lost about £5000 of valuables. When I talked with the police I said there was a difference between being a good neighbour and a nosey one and I had not gone through their garden gate as I would have hated to have been thought of as being nosey. Now I know different. What give this sort of scum the right to terrorise elderly people. 5 of the 6 have been pensioner households. I would love to catch this pond life at it on my property, whilst not quite a Tony Martin, I would have no hesitation about dispensing some instant justice. I have just talked with the couple who were done yesterday. They are petrified that the scum could come back. At the same time one of my sons mates who walked up to our house yesterday afternoon was stopped and questioned by the police to the effect of "Why are you in this area?. etc.". Everybody who does not live on the estate will be viewed with suspicion. Moan over, I just feel better for stating an opinion

The answer is simple...easy targets. Sad but true.
You can't then go on to moan about your sons pal being stopped Tim. In an attempt to offer a sense of extra vigilance the Police were making an effort. The lad in question could well have been dodgy as far as they know. ![]() |

My house – my castle. I believe that this is one of the oldest human rights, dating back to the days of caveman. All the fuss about Martin and so on, but in principal he was right. The little scum would not get shot if he did not enter the house uninvited. It is unfair as it is with them carrying knives or guns and you being done if you slap him with a wooden spoon. Crazy …. makes one feel quite angry.
While we moan. I treated my wife to a new car few months ago. She loves it, polishes it every week and is really proud of it. She phoned me at lunch time. Someone hit the car at M&S car park and left. Not too much damage but enough to notice. So she really upset as they left without leaving any details what so ever. Why do people do that? I am seriously considering the option of contacting the security at the car park and asking for the CCTV footage, if there is any. (but I doubt it they will let me do that?). |

yes, we have had a neighbourhood watch since the first house got done some years ago. The problem is that in the main we tend to keep to ourselves, there seems to be very little interaction between neighbours.
PH. Gmonsta is quite correct in that my moan is really down to the depth that some in society have decended to, and the resulting implications on others. The lad in question, would stand out as dodgy and a prime suspect. But once you know him you find him to be a polite courtious lad. I live in a small typical 1950s development. Nobody here would be classed as affluent yet we appear to be experiencing more than what I would class to be the norm when it comes to this sort of crime. and why should people travel to our area to commit it, as like I said it is not a through road. So nobody has any business being on the estate without reason.
