Default Downpour

Got caught in one last night, got totally soaked. This morning, the bike stalled really easily at the first junction. At next one, the front cyclinder cut out while turning, meaning acceleration was slow for a bit, then came back on hard, whizzed me real fast, I clutched in, it raced, and I managed to stay on. This TOTALLY sucked, so I turned round and drove the car to work.

Firstly, I totally feel for the scottish guy on here that had that happen to him but it flung him off and his back hit a curb; its a really unsettling thing, luckily I was pretty much straightened out when it kicked back in.

Secondly, it has never done this before to me. Will it just dry out and work ok again? I was surprised that it happened the morning after, yet the bike was fine driving through a lake on the M40 last night...

Warthog,

time for a fenda extenda (bought or home made) to stop the front spark from being soaked, or some use silicone grease....

Both are reported to prevent this issue occurring.

A quick search should yield some results.

Difference is Abyss has a FI pointy and Warthog has a carb curvy which gets the front pot soaked in downpours. Do a search for it. I think people take out the plug and give a good squirt of WD40.

I thought Warty had a naked K3.

Anyhoo, the later bikes are less - note not, just less - affected by the problem than are the curvies, all the same a fender extender is the way to go.

Don't think it's FI that stops the front pot stopping, it's the redesign of the flappy rubber bit of the front if anyone says I'm talking bull.

P.S. I'm still blagging

OK, I'll stop digging

Can happen anytime, My sv didn't do it for 2 years, but after it did it once it kept doing it so a fenda extenda was purchased, never done it since

I did wonder what the flappy peice of rubber at the front was there for!

Still planning on getting a fender extender soon.
