Default Painting panels

I have one panel that i painted, unfortunatly a nice nittle thing decided to stick itself to the side of the panel when the paint was wet. I rubbed it down and tried to re-prime it and paint, but for some reason all around the area that was sanded smooth (with 400/800/1200 wet paper), the bit that has a graduation between paint layers it causes the paint to crackle. I have sanded and redone the same area several times but the paint always crackles. Its only on the edge of the old & new surfaces.

Its weird, i feal like just leaving it and moving on but its quite visable. Any ideas?

Rub down the whole pannel and re-spray. The paint has nothing to key itself against.

What paint you using?

Just normal car paint from halfwits, just a simple satin black. If i need to rub entire panel again, ile leave it for now as its only the front mudguard and do it another day.

You can get away with that with some point, but cellulose is touchy. Should't need a massive amount of rubbing down though, I'd not take it back to primer myself.

It goes wrong when i put primer down. I did think about rubbing it a little once several black coats were down then black on again.

How long since you painted it first? It's maybe still flashing off from the last coat... Either way, you do need to key it in to give the primer something to grip against, with teh basecoat I used all it needed was a rub with a scotchbrite pad. Pers'nally I found P800 wet to be as fine as it needed for priming...

Ile give it another go when i get home, but i was sanding it down with that grade paper. Should i key it with the paper wet or dry?

Sorry, not sure for the aerosol cellulose. For the stuff I was using the gun with (cellulose, but different) I used 800 wet. Seemed to work... Then used the same to flat the primer.

Wet and with a little washing up liquid in the water(a tiny bit) Makes the scratches finer and doesnt clog the paper as much, then a dry and then wipe with thinners, then spray.
