One for you eBayers out there
![]() My missus has just won an item on eBay and the seller has sent her this message: Thanks for your purchase. Just to let you know that I my Paypal account has been hacked into and I cannot access it. Therefore please do NOT send payment through the Ebay invoice as I will NOT receive the payment. Instead please log into your Paypal account, click on 'send money' and send money to blahblah@blahblahblah.com which is my business paypal account and which is working fine. Many thanks and if you need assistance please feel free to ask. Thanks I just get supicious of anything these days, so what's it about? Genuine, or is it some kind of dodge to avoid paying Paypal fees? Thanks guys |

I would say that you're only prepared to accept this if they send the item first and you'll pay later

This sounds totally fine if the message has genuinely come from the seller.
It will not avoid Paypal fees. If you get ripped off you should still be able to get a charge back from paypal AFAIK. Best to call the seller and satisfy yourself the message is genuine. |

![]() Would YOU honestly send anything before you had the money? If so, can you point out your ebay auctions please. ![]() ![]() |

Send them a cheque or postal order, they might be glad to avoid paypal fees. Or you could always pay it direct into their bank, I've done that before.

Sounds fine to me- specify "payment type- ebay" and list the item number though. That way, you're still protected.
