Default Suzuki Crash bungs for a pointy 650.

Are they any good? Friend has just bought some and I was sure I'd heard stories that they were naff.

I am in a definite minority because I quite like them. I have dropped my bike at least 4 times at a standstill (don't ask!) and been knocked off once at 20mph. The fairing mounting bracket bent (but I prefer that to a bent frame) and fairing/exhaust was scratched a bit but that was about it. The 20mph drop was only time got other damage, the rear brake lever bust. I bent the bracket back each time and hasn't snapped yet. Higher speed falls may be a different story, or maybe better bungs stop all damage, but I doubt that.
Cue the rest of .org to tell me how wrong I am.....

I've got R&G's on mine but Motosliders get the vote on here. Cheaper too.

They're not the best. Trouble is unlike R & G's and Motosliders that bolt directly through the frame. The Suzuki bungs mount to a metal bracket that then bolts to through the frame.

So if you have an off. The brackets that the bungs are bolted to bend or snap which renders them useless. This is particularly annoying if you have lowers because when the brackets bend they bungs dig into your lowers and split them. Making the damage worse.

like this

Some people have reported problems with the R & G bolts bending, but IMHO R & G's are better than the Suzki bungs. The motosliders bungs seem to come highly recommended to.
