After speaking to some lovely lady in the afternoon at Brands Hatch, I found out that there are two companies that do ear plugs to exactly fit your ears.
They inject some stuff into your ears (with some cotton wool to protect your drums) let it set, and from that you they can make a mold with some proper stuff (silicon maybe?) She said one of the brands is a little plasticy/hard/breaks easily, and the other is much more soft and the ear plug is much more see-through (and better). Does anyone know of either of these two companies, and I have searched the 'net for a while and had no luck ![]() |

i tried custom plugs but found even with a good fit they didn't stay in as there was nothing keeping them in unlike disposables that expand in your ear.
They were diy though. |

I have a set from Green Leopard http://www.greenleopard.co.uk/
Very pleased with them, have lasted two years now, used twice daily, and only cost me £45. |

I sometimes use disposables on site, the best ones i have used are called matrix, they are from USA, and are foam but have a bendy plastic insert which helps fit them well into your ear, more comfortable than the usual ones as this allows the foam to be softer.

I nearly got a set made up this year... The place I was looking at using made a point of saying that cotton wool's not a good idea for the "plug", as it can leave bits behind. Makes sense to me, cotton wool's messy stuff. In the end, I decided to stick with my disposables, I use the orange ones off this site:
http://www.safetysupplies.co.uk/trolleyed/4/index.htm The other ones probably work fine too, just that these are the ones I found easiest. You dop get better protection with custom mades, though.
