Default Speedo Problem on a '98 ZX7R

Mates bike. Speedo has stopped working. Everything else looks OK. Any ideas?

Just remember that you only have one decent leg left Mr Toad. Don't make me rush up there and break it for you.

I was going to say yes I know that the speedo stops at 170!

Have you checked the cable?

Could've come loose. I'm sure it's cable driven and not electronic (I should know I've owned two of them). You may be able to get a replacement cable if not new speedo unit off ebay will do!

Where is it driven from? Front wheel or gearbox?

Front wheel and can be a b*tch unscrew the clock bit if you have man size fingers

Cheers

Definitely the front wheel. Mate of mine disconnected his speedo on his 98 ZX7R as it also stops the odometer from clocking the miles up. He judged his speed from knowing what gear he was in and using the rev counter.

Sorted.

Had a look at it last night and it had come loose at the "clocks" end. Tightened it all back up and it works perfectly again.
