Default Tax disc online

Just bought a tax disc via the dvla's online system & it was dead simple. Much nicer than queueing up in a post office with all the dole scum & old ladies.

Never expected the government to have such an easy to use system.

Is it just me or is £62 a bit steep? My last bike was only £15.

They are certainly promoting it on the reminders! Seems like they are pushing for telephone and internet renewals to elbow the post office out!

I have got the last 3 tax disks for my car online and I'm about to get the bikes second one... and as you say, beats queueing in the post office on pension day.

It is. However the SV is over the 599cc threshold. A gixer 600 for instance is £45 a year. Nothing we can do. Its the only downfall of the SV. The bandit, and Triumph all will be the same. They need to raise the threshold to 700cc to be honest, but like thats going to happen

Sadly my car has an old style MOT so i cant do my car tax online (

Thay've already stopped the post office from issueing TV licences. I can see it going the same way with this too in the not to distant future.

It certainly makes declaring SORN so much simpler that people are far more likely to actually do it when, say, keeping a bike off the road for a few winter months - which I guess is part of the idea.
