Default Very noobish exhaust question...

Hi all,

Have had the SV for just over a month now and am really keen on getting a race can/exhaust fitted. I know the cans are illegal but everyone has one right? so whats the deal? How likely are you to get pulled up by the fuzz because of it? do i need to tell my insurance company that I have an illegal exhaust? and if i don't tell them will they not pay out if i have an accident...etc? and i'm also assuming that it will void my 2 year warrenty.

These all seem like pretty big minus points to me for getting one so are they more hassel than they're worth? but then everyone seems to have one so very confused...please help!

well first of all, you will not regret getting one as they sound so much better than the OEM can,
I have not even had the fuzz show a little bit of intrest in me to date, i even went past one at 80 down a 40 road this my knee almost at the ground with the can screaming its tits off, and for some reason he still just carried on driving!!! (luck)
but i tend to just pull the clutch in as they go past to make it nice and quiet, i am sure its not assential but i still just do it automaticly,
as for the warrenty i am not to sure, as i dont have a warrenty my self as havn't looked into it,
and as for the insurance you have to bare in mind that insurance companys will try to get out of paying out in any way possable, but having a can on should not effect anything in event of a crash, but you just wont be able to claim for the can, the other thing you can do it get a road legal race can (removable baffle) then you can tell your insurance company and the fuzz isn't a problem either,

P.s sorry for spelling, i cant spel to save my life, and really cant be bothered to use the spell chech in this ocation

Most aren't bothered if it doesn't increase performance, mine know about my can

FAIK it would only affect the warranty of your exhaust, not 100% though

hmmm i see... Any recomendations for a can? nothing too crazy just something to stop it sounding like a put-put mobil for a reasonable price? And are they easy to fit yourself?

Cheers

End cans are very easy to fit... I don't know any specific details as far as what to buy and how much it is but if you have a sift through this lot you might find some info that helps.

got to say the renagade on mine sounds very nice, even got told that by a fellow SV rider the other day. My mate down the rd says he always knows when i`m going out as he hears it pass
but its not stupidly noisey, just has a nice rumble to it.
