Default Mainland european SV650s K05 to GB - speedomter & headlights

Hi guys,

I recently came over from mainland Europe and obviuosly couldn#t leave my SV so brought it over. To get it registed in GB (besides a lot of paper hasle ) they want proof that I have a speedometer in mph and my headlights get changed to UK specifications (dip to left).

Am I right in assuming if I buy a used mph speedometer and headlights, I can install them and have a workshop or MOT station check and confirm them for the VCA?

Will the new speedometer automatically show the correct mph or do I need to change or adjust anything else.

Thanks for some advice!

On my SV 56 plate, I could switch the display between mph and kph.

You need to hold both buttons together when the display is reading the kilometers/miles the bike has covered, not trip A or B

Also. If you have headlights that dip the correct way for driving on the left the MOT station should sign it off as legal for british roads

Thanks for the response, sadly didn't work. Appartently the mainland euproean bikes aren't fitted with the mph mode (I found some threads on other sites who had the same issue).

So remains getting a new/used uk mph one and install it - just checking it would work and no changes on sensors ect needed?

I wouldn't think you'd need to change the sensor as no matter if you are measuring in MPH or KM/H the wheel goes around at the same "speed"

But, a used UK one shouldn't cost too much, just means the bikes "mileage" would be wrong

I would do this if the setting isn't there (Strange that it isn't)
You can sometimes pick up a set cheap and if your concerned about the clock showing the correct miles, contact this firm

Had a set of curvy clocks from him and they were better condition than mine
