electric probs

hi all,
i have a 99 650 done 10,000, 2 weeks ago it conked out on me tried to restart
but just seemed as though battery was low clicking solenoid. bike started when used jump leads. bought new battery was ok for couple of days then same thing again, took to local bike shop checked battery after recharging seemed ok, charging circuit checked out good could not see any obvious bare wires. got bike back all ok until today then same thing happened again this morning, conked out in traffic would not start same symptoms.

Good evening.
I would suggest than you may have an intermittent charging problem, the most likely suspect being the regulator/rectifier.......However, when you say that the charging system checked out ok do you mean that the voltage across the battery was at least 14.5 volts at 5000 rpm with the lights on? A visual inspection of all the associated connectors & wiring is worthwhile doing, as many a perfectly good regulator has been replaced, only to find out that the fault was a dodgy connection.

im no expert.............hang on ,yes i am ive had 3 in the last month it sounds like rectifier to me too

bike is back in shop today he has ordered a new rectifier to try for tomorrow if your right this should possibly be a fix.
