What bike cover?

Not as in insurance, but those unsightly things that keep the weather off your bike. Since I moved and the new place doesn't have a garage I need one of those. I've been suggested the £20 one from Argos (yes, they have one!). So what do people use to cover their bikes?

£20 one from argos is good. Cheap (doesn't matter so much if it gets nicked), you can put it on when the can is hot, Waterproof(ish), Small enough to carry with you on the bike (for when staying away overnight).

I've also got a (much more expensive) Oxford Stormex, but I never use it, due to its bulk (I only cover my bike when it's out of the garage).

I have a Oxford Rainex, don't get one.

As well as keeping the weather off your bike, you don't want to give the impression that you have anything really precious under it. Before I had a garage I lost a few covers when new, I would get the cheapest canvass type and rough it up a bit, spill oil/paint on it etc.

All I can add is I have written arrows all down mine to easily identify the front and i lock it on the bike as it has an eyelet by each footpeg and I use a little retractable cable lock.

I have an R&G one, but it's a bit bling.

I've got the cheapo silver Oxford one as I don't live in a great neighbourhood and won't care as much if it gets nicked (t'was £12). Does the job though as the elasticated bottom keeps it on the bike and the Oxford logo makes it easy to recognise the front.

Living in Brixton - im an expert on this...had green one which was good, no elastic waist so goes on and off easy , v good, got nicked...

Then i goty one of these heavy grey ones, great, but no way of securing, my bandit sat on Coldharbour LAne for 14 months fine until i put the expensive grey cover on it,. one week later it was gone, bike and cover!

Now i have a Oxford black with white lining, excellent altho elastic waist is a pain, but you can lock it to the bike, brilliant !

As mogs has said - security is a consideration. The fact that they're cheap and common (easily the sort of bike cover I see most- often on scooters) gives the impression that your bike isn't worth nicking. Mine is covered in oil and grime and never cleaned for this reason.
