Default Can I add front fairing to ALL 2000 sv650s?

Is there a 2000 sv 650 that will not fit a front fairing?

Also I'm looking at a 2000 sv650 with 5000 miles on it for $2500 from dealer. Is this a good deal? Should I buy it? My cousin says to by a ZX6 instead. He said other "true" sport bikes will blow past me. His bike is a 2004 ZX6r 636, so should'nt a sv650 be faster than his bike?

How is the vanuverability on the sv 650 compared to other bikes in the $3000-$4000 range? Like if a ZX6r is more manuverable are we talking like 5% more or maybe 50% more vanuverability? I think there are many "better" bikes, but I don't think it get's THAT much better than the sv650 based on what I hear.

Default wha?

Hi Falcon....
Any 600cc sportsbike..ie cbr6 zx6r R6 gsxr6 will be a good bit faster than the sv due to enigne tuning and gearing and have better handling characteristics, simply becasue thats what they're designed to do....go around corners very fast.

An sv650 is built for reasonable handling, reasonable speeds, and reasonable costs.
All year sv650's have two mdels, a faired model, and an unfaired model. The one you're looking at is obviosuly an unfaired(naked) model....you can buy screens etc for them, and its probably possible to fit an oem fairing (anyone?) to a naked bike...but it'd be cheaper for you to just keep an eye out for a faired version instead.

We cant tell you if you should buy the bike or not regardless of price as condition is more important....you need to get somebody who knows what to look for to check it out for you.

It sounds like its your first motorbike...so I would suggest you ignore your cousin;'s advice about getting the fastest bike possible as all that will help you to do is get yourself in much more trouble quickly. An sv is a great first(or second or third etc) bike...its forgiving in ways a sports 600(as mentionedabove) isnt....meaning you can make mistakes and not get thrown off as easily to a degree.

All bikes are only as manoeuverable as the person riding them makes it..... someone confident and experienced on their sv will waster anyone on any other bike on a twisty road that isnt confident and experienced on their machine....so dont get too wrapped up in which bike is more maneouverable and by how much....if you're just starting off then none of them will be maneouverable for you for a good while yet

The sv is a great mid range bike.....it carries luggage comfortable=y,it does 130mph, and feels nice getting there, it'll let you get your knee down, and it'll be a long time before you get to the stage where the bike doesnt do the things you want it to do.
Then you can go and buy a zx6r or cbr6 or gsxr...and the best thing about them then? You'll be well able to use them to the best of your ability instead of just standing beside it talking about how fast it is but then getting left behind on corners by people on 250's.

He's not wrong

more cc's dosnt mean more bhp's

ZX-6r = +100bhp

SV650 = ~70bhp

Choosing your motorcycle should be something very personal. It all depends on how you plan on using the machine. A newer 600cc sportbike will (in most cases) be faster than an sv650 in the straights but try riding one for a couple hundred miles. Your wrists and spine will be thanking you. My first bike was a '93 Katana 600 and my curvy is faster and more comfortable. Shop around. I test-rode 5 different bikes before I straddled the BlueDevil and fell in love.

Also, dont let others talk you into all the hype. Do your research and dont just try to make your friends happy because at the end of the day its just you, your bike, and the ride.

I've got 4000 miles on a KLR 250 dual sport and I took the MSF course when I bought my bike.
