Mart, as long as you bring the 3 girlies (in your avatar) with you, we'll get you all the answers you want

seriously, a lot depends on the area you work in / move to for both the questions as there's quite a variation between where I live (Carluke - out in the sticks) and where I work (Glasgow)

The local plumber charges me roughly 40 quid an hour

Ref the bikes - the ML8 postcode is much cheaper than ML1 (Motherwell) ML2 (Wishaw) etc and would imagine that any G (Glasgow ) postcode would be a tad more expensive

Sure Jim can advise

On the other hand you could do what a lot of people do and stay in the middle

"FK" area insurance rates are a bit cheaper... but the Plumbers are just as expensive

Rab's right stay in the middle, cheaper housing, council tax, services, 30 mins drive to either glasgow or edinburgh, better biking roads as well.

Oh welcome by the way.

oh goodie another one!!!!

I know nothing re plumbers - I have Dad/Garry for that - sorry.

Insurance - not sure G68/67 ain't that bad (should fall 06/07)
North Lan can be very dodgy in areas
Falkirk - has the most expensive MP!!!!
There's new house in Menstrie - with great roads about but CT is expensive

Were you think of moving to ???!?!?!

I can try an tap in to the ASB stats for most areas if needed

glasgow c/c is nowhere as expensive as london(for example),im 38 6 points ,g52 (not a great postcode ,its quite near the centre of town )and i was £300 f/c on a 650s ,by comparison i was talking to blueflame at the weekend ,40(ish ) no points ,lives in fife.dunfermline area £92 on a pointy650s as re plumbers ,loads of work (my mates a builder ,so on sites all the time)theres a good earner up here for a plumber/gas fitter ,maybe not the same rates as london ,but it costs less to live up here .you could b with a company earning say £450 a week ,or self employed earning silly money ,(40-£50 an hr plus call out) ,the choice is yours

You'll have no problems getting work as a tradesman in the central belt People are screaming for a decent honest plumber that won't take the **** when it comes to pricing. Most plumbers in the Central Belt charge between £25 to £40 per hour up here. My cousins a sparkie, and he makes a small fortune for himself.. (but he works crazy hours and goes all over the country on big projects).

Insurance - I run a ZX9R at 27, and live in an ML3 post code. A mate of mine runs a ZX6R at 21.The premiums aren't that bad either.
Just avoid the areas where there's loads of hoodies going around. A bike like a ZX6R is hot property to a thief in Glasgow - my mate got his nicked but we recovered it ourselves from a dodgy part of Glasgow (Bishopbriggs). The local gang who stole it thought we were either mad or well connected elsewhere to even venture into their teritory and walk out again. Police were no help.. "just claim your insurance"

Mention areas like Govan, Clydebank or Bishopbriggs to an insurer and you'll get a major scare on the price. Stay rural or the outskirts of a town and the insurance for the Central Belt isn't too bad compared to many other places. Inverness (Postcode IV) is 20% cheaper than glasgow....

The roads up here too are quite tasty once you get out of the rat race and into the countryside. Speed cameras are currently quite rare on the roads that we use..
