Default France Trip 2007 Idea

Call me mental,

but I've another lorry driver/biker pal who wants to go to the south of France, visit St. Tropez, do a day trip to Monte Carlo, and maybe do a wee jaunt down to Barcelona, Spain on the bikes.

I'm game for some foreign travel. Need to see if we can get the numbers up a wee bit. Anybody else game for next year say June July???
Budget two weeks holiday for this trip.

Had the exact same thing in mind :P
Haven't got any route planned, I was just thinking of the Alps or something

Get yourself to Calais and catch the train down to Nice. Bikes are about £250, which includes an overnight stay on the train. It's about 900 or so miles from Calais by road so it takes a couple of days. By going by train you leave on Friday morning and wake up at the other end. I did it in 2005 and again in 2007.

There is also a train to Perpignan, so if you you want to do Spain that's closer. You can then come back up via the Alps etc, into Italy and Switzerland.

Thats the dream trip for me, Alps,SOFrance, Barcelona, pyrenees, ferry at Bilbao/santander. Expensive getting two different ferries and i would want 3wks. We got knackered doing 3500 in two weeks this year. Just too much.

1st time we went to the sof was calais via alps by autoroute, which if you have a big fast bike (we had big but not fast a ZX9 will **** it ) its not bad riding down as over there the roads are empty and fast with considerate driving unlike this sh**ty country. If i remember its only 500miles straight down. A days riding easy. Would not miss the "Cols" in the alps for anything tho'. Then you get a beach holiday after riding roads for 8hrs and maybe doing 100miles tops. Round and round, up n'down. Mad.

U lucky folk

The more folk the slower you go tho'.
