I have won a childs helmet today on ebay and paid immediately. Bid price £10.50, p & P listed as free.

The seller has now just sent me a message saying the postage will be £7.00 ..... can he do this ?

Don't sound right to me. If they said P&P was free in advert, then it should be. P&P of £7.50 would have affected the price you were willing to pay? I would have thought you could get a new one from the shop for about the total price they expect you to pay.

exactly. Not even a sorry mate forgot to say or anything. Am not impressed, only bought the thing cos it was so cheap, that has virtually doubled the price. May sit on it a day or two and see what happens

yep, it said free. I thought it odd, but didn't question it because felt that was their problem not mine

Even if it is still cheaper than elswhere I would say no way, ain't paying it and post a comment (if you can) accordingly. I don't like people cheating like that and would rather pay more elsewhere than let the them get away with it

Was it 2nd hand? I would be cautious about buying such things 2nd hand.

ok... but do I have to pay for his error? Not a happy bunny about this, feel his approach was rude and if it were me I would just be cross with myself and ensure I didn't do it again.

But, I don't want negative feedback, if I refuse to pay it.

So the seller should have checked their ad. I think Tomcat is right to sit on it, but how to get the £10.50 back?

Some sellers do genuine free postage, I've just bought a workshop manual with free p&p. If they made a genuine mistake then they should at least give you the option of dropping out without adverse comment.
