Obvious quezzy - have you got loft insulation. Not 3 inches, I mean really good insulation. And draft proofing on doorr frames etc.

double glazing all round, loft insulation, cavity wall insulation and 8 radiators keeping it all warm from a 2 year old combi boiler that should be efficient.

btw if the bills are based on estimated readings, have you checked the actual figures?

both of my suppliers have been doing more than generous overestimates of our usage, and building up some nice reserves of my money (from monthly DDs) in their bank accounts. To the tune of c. £100 each for gas & electric in fact - and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if they're doing that to everyone they're making a nice bit of interest!

Im dreading my bills, me and miss alpinestarhero have had the heating on almost all day, everyday for a little while now (except when we go out for lectures, and it gets turned off at night).

This flat is very energy inefficient, you can feel draughts everywhere

Have to laugh, the electric bill came in at the start of the month, now I don't normally deal with these the Mrs does, but this time she thought she should show me.

£2,078

Needless to say after a "wee bit of a talking to" we got a revised bill for £118.

Cheers Mark.
