http://www.gumtree.com/london/53/8005953.html London-Cape Town motorbike expedition - mechanic required. We are recruiting an additional mechanic for our forthcoming trans-Africa expedition. You must be professionally qualified and have both car (petrol) and motorcycle mechanic experience. You will be a key member of a 3 man team running the expedition, and will depart the UK on 1st April 07, arriving in Cape Town by 1st September 07. You will be required to service and maintain up to 8 x motorcycles and 1 x 4x4 during a 4 month expedition from London to Cape Town, as well as taking on additional tasks as required. This can be expected to include purchasing expedition supplies, helping other members of the expedition staff carry out their duties and any other tasks as deemed necessary by the expedition leader. This is a very challenging, varied and rewarding job and you will be expected to be very adaptable and have a "can-do" attitude at all times. Working conditions can be very testing and applicants will have to show previous experience of living/working in testing conditions as well as references from previous employers. Off-road motorcycle experience is beneficial, as is experience of driving and maintaining 4x4 vehicles. Some knowledge of French is beneficial, but not mandatory.
