Anyone got one (and any reasons or not for them) that they want to share?
Just curious following Tomcat's post in the "Deed/Breed" thread, but didn't want to derail. Personally, I don't really think I have any phobias as such, more, sensible self limitations I suppose. Eg, I'll think twice before abseiling/jumping out of a plane, but if I feel it's reasonably safe to do, it's not something I'm scared of, and I've done quite a lot of stuff like that in the past. Tomcat, you mentioned snakes. If you ever want to meet a friendly one and you're in my neck of the woods, I've got a baby Royal Python in the lounge (it's maybe 18inch long) ![]() ![]() |

can't even stand near one. I was stood in a local pet shop and they had some tiny little grass snake thingys, all the kids were stroking them etc. I didn't like them, can't explain it. I am not generally a nervous person, like you I have a sense of safety, but if roped up will happily abseil etc.
The snake thing I just can't explain, even if I know they are harmless. It makes me wonder if its some sixth sense of a previous life, or previous death! ![]() |

BTW, my mate asked me to help him out with his rattler, as it hadn't shed properly the last few times & him & his misses was getting a little worried for the things health (they can get diseases if eye-caps don't come off properly etc). So in response to me trying to make sure his snake was healthy (careful now!) etc, namely by pulling it's dead skin off, it decided it didn't like it anymore, and the thing bit me. My own fault really as I was being a bit rough with it, and it's not used to being handled much, let alone by me. So off I trotted to A&E, and tried to explain that they needed to get some pretty specific anti-venom, and how to use it (not many folks in N Wales have seen a venomous snake), whilst I had lockjaw (amongst other things). So yes, around THAT snake, I'll be a little more careful in future. The pre-menstrual thing, I'm not scared, I just make myself scarce ![]() |
