Re: Batteries via mail order
I got a Sprint one for my K4 from here:
http://www.bikerpartsdirect.com Came with the acid pack. Filled it and charged it overnight, fitted it the morning after and it's been fine since. The curvy ones are not quite as tall and (IIRC) technically should be a gel battery as they are installed at an angle. I believe that Varta and Yuasa batteries are one and the same. HTH Keith |

Re: Batteries via mail order
ian, your CBR will use a maintenance free battery (a gel battery).
the cheapest ive found is wemoto.com im pretty sure the old curvy SV uses a maintenance free battery too. these dont need to have acid mixed, they come ready to use straight out of the box. all you gotta do is stick it on a trickle charger for a recommended 12 hours. (my one did anyway) then stick it on the bike, job done. also, my battery died a while ago, but i hooked it to an optimate IIIsp for an hour, and it seems to have fixed it. |

Re: Batteries via mail order
Morning all.
On Hondas the best place to buy a battery is usually (wait for it) your local Honda dealer! From memory I think your bike has a YTZ10 battery, well I got a genuine YTZ12 in for an SP1 last month & the retail price was £49.99 inc VAT. Honda drastically lowered the price of batteries around 10 years ago, & as most Honda batteries are Japanese made Yuasa they are of a certain quality. Interestingly enough the trade price of a YTZ12 from Feridax, the official Yuasa importers is £61.11 inc VAT. (and they wonder why they don't sell many) With Batteries it usually pays to have one of a certain standard, such as Yuasa or Varta as some of the cheaper batteries such as Sprint or MF seem to be very hit or miss. Yuasa market a range under the name Global Yuasa, these are in my experience somewhat inferior to the genuine Japanese made item. Cheers Last edited by Spanner Man; 03-03-07 at 08:32 AM. Re: Batteries via mail order
I tend to agree with spanner man with reference to the cheaper makes, my personal thought with regard to batteries has always been why spend £35 and find it doesn't do the job long term when for an extra £10 I could have one that I know will do the job.
Interesting that IanSV requested retailers of Yuasa batteries and many trying to help pointed him at suppliers of alternatives.

Re: Batteries via mail order
I definitely support the YTZ range from Yuasa.
My Deauville came from the dealer with a YTZ-10 fitted (not the recommended DV battery but as used on a variety of other Hondas so presumably one they had on the shelf). It starts as soon as your thumb gets near the button. If you can fit a YTZ-12 in a SV650 (according to the dimensions it ought to), it'll whizz over. I've heard some folks have used http://www.inter-bike.co.uk/inter-bi.../shopindex.asp but from what Spannerman says I'd check out the Honda dealer first. |
