Hi All

A born again biker - 42yr old

and decided to get back into bikes - got my eye on a SV650 so decided what better place to join. Hopefully be on the road soon honing my skills (or lack thereof).

Any tips / advice about SVs more than welcome

smashing choice etc etc

ride carefully, chances are if its been a few years the rascals may have got considerably quicker and reflexes and reactions slower.

but most of all, enjoy.

OK newby question - Curvys? I guess that is the earlier version then - why faster carbs???

Welcome to the house that is mad.

Only advice I can give you is to ignore Hovi5.

Yes, curvy's are the older model (called curvy because of the bodywork shape), and are carbed, pointies ('03-'06) have Fuel injection.

Not so long back a couple of folks that actually race SVs found that a stock pointy has a bhp advantage over a stock curvy. I'll dig that thread up & slap Hovi5 with it if he carries on

Oh, and you know blue makes more sense than anything else

Curvys are '99 -'02
Pointys are '03- present

Curvys are carbed, pointys are fuel injection.

Blue pointys are fastest. :P
