Default Worst rider i have seen!! How about you?

Last night i went out for a ride on my bike , a beautiful evening it was. Nice and dry, and the roads were clear. I'm riding my usual route to Minehead, and on my way back home i come across two identical black gsxr600's, only the numberplates were one letter different and from what i could see, (gear wise) it looked like husband and wife.

So i'm sat behind thinking how nice it would be to keep up with them. On the straights off they both go, up to 80-90 most of the time and i just about managed to keep them in my sights with my 33bhp. From what i can see the lady rider has huge chicken stripes which later on i found out why.

I know the roads very well so i was prepared to sit back around some of the corners, anticipating they didn't know them so well. The bloke was gone and i was left sat behind his wife thinking i was doing well to be up with them. Then next breath we come to a corner (good job i was looking) and she decides to take the worst position i have ever seen slam on her brakes and plod around the gutter at 30mph. I was lucky not to have my head in her rear wheel it was close i tell you.

So we get on the straights again and off she goes 80-90 catching up her husband up leaving me behind for abit. We come to another corner and again she does the same but this time she goes too far on the outside and almost gets wipped out by a lorry, WTF im thinking. Shes riding one of the best handleing bikes and shes flapping around like a headless chicken. I can't believe her husband lets her on the road. Believe me it was so so bad .

We finally get behind some traffic, which was great for once as it gave me time to assess the situation. I then look behind me to see 5 bikes also looking ****ed off at her, even cars were catching up it was that bad . Then i spot a chance with them both sitting behind these cars to overtake, all be it on white lines (wouldn't do this normally) im gone and these other bikes follow. I spot a new gsxr1000 in a hurry so he went past me , but these other bikes didn't bother. We rode all the way to a petrol station where i pulled in to fuel up, they did too and they couldn't believe it either, agreeing with me that it was dangerous and her husband should have perhaps been behind her, to see it for himself. After talking to those guys about it i felt a little better and then went off home!!

Ahh thats better now thats off my chest, just goes to show even on the best bikes, riders can still be crap. Just ****es me off, she was on such a nice bike that she was only using in a straight line. Also putting other drivers and riders in danger!!

Well my rant over with, has anyone else got any riding horrors?

Sorry for the essay, just thought i would share!!

Maybe she was a new rider? Perhaps she has just passed her test and is on her first bike? Sounds classic new rider moves if you ask me.

Doesn't make it any better but there is usually a reason behind how someone rides/drives.

I thought the same but if i was a husband i'd care about my wife, i'd be behind making sure she was ok, not storming off into the distance and only looking back to see that shes still there.

The bikes were both 06 but with only one letter difference on the end of the numberplate, must mean shes had it a year. Got to have been from new to get the numberplates like that!!

When i started to ride for the first time i made sure i moved out the way for other bikers, waved them past. I just wasn't impressed with her road manners. I can't believe someone new to riding would start off on a gsxr and not know how to go around corners .

That story makes me feel a whole lot better about my cornering. I always thought I slowed down too much and was over cautious but now I think not hee hee.

Poor woman must have been bloody horrid ride for her, just imagine what she was thinking every time a corner/bend came in view.

I wonder if anyone has explained the limit point to her?

TBH That doesn't sound too far off my first ride after passing my test. Road positioning was really bad and I had no confidence in the corners. I always try to keep out the way and pull over for faster traffic though.

It's amazing what difference a few months can make.

Still her husband should have been more gentlemanly by the sound of it.

Yep classic newbie tactics. First new big bike maybe. Lets give the girl a break, the blame should go to the hussy, he should have rode behind her so as to let her find her own pace and not be pressured into riding like a ****. Even girls have egos you know, not only boys.

I was riding thinking she can't be enjoying this, i wasn't, i was scared myself!!

Yeh i know what you mean by limit point, i call it the vanishing point (the farthest point at which you can see ahead) Thats why road position is so important, helps you to see dangers before anything happens and helps you to use the road properly!

When you lot were new to riding did you go 80-90 on the straights in 50mph zones, i sure didn't. Thats why i just don't see how she can be so new, and why if she was that new to it her husband thought it was ok to leave he to it!!

I must have such different morals to some people, i wouldn't have the cheek to leave her.

When I first started riding I was doing 90+ onstraights, but then slowing to ridiculous slow speeds on tight corners/hairpins in the Ardennes, learnt a lot on my first few rides (first ride out after picking up the bike was 350 km or so of Ardennes twisties ). But I can imagine it would be frustrating and alarming to follow someone riding like this.

PS I think I'm a little better now.

This is why I stay off the popular / tourist routes when the weather gets warmer. Its no fun at all ?

Which road A39 ?

Sounds like new rider itus to me. TBH I used to needlessly worry about Liz when we started going riding together, but it used to put me off what I was doing as I was worrying about her all the time when I didnt need to. I found after a while that it was better for both of us if I didnt keep looking in my mirrors every few seconds when I was in front.

I'm wandering if the rider in front was doing the same thing, just concentrating on his own riding, also some people don't take kindly to critque of their riding even if its well meant or its their other half.
