Default Frequent business flyers, baggage rec.

Attention frequent business fliers/travellers.

Please recommend me a couple of things:
1. A cabin sized bag that will do for a night or two or three and hasnt failed to actually GET INTO the cabin.
2. A nice bag for a laptop and a few bits and pieces (spare pants, sandwiches....preferably separate compartments) that would do me for just one night say, travel by train etc.

Critieria....looks good, functional (number of unfucnctional things I have bought is annoying) and not too expensive.

(I realise of course these days its hard to get 1 and 2 above into the cabin of the aircraft at the same time).

This is a pretty hideous example, but I've used this style of bag before. (My dad uses one every week flying for business). You can get real nice leather ones that aren't too expensive. Inside you'll get a well protected laptop space, room for a suit and a good few days basic essentials. Means you don't crease your jacket with a shoulder strap which is always good. (sorry - not much help but no one else had replied)

I fly frequently and the best thing I did was to ditch the wheelie case, go to Costco and get my Swisstech backpack. It's got a laptop compartment, documents compartment, smaller compartments for cables etc and one for clothes. It'll take changes of shirts, socks, skids for about 3 days. Fits in the smallest overhead lockers - like the ones in those little Embrear planes that BA connect (or now flymayBE) use. It cost about 26 quid. Not the cheapest but it's well made and comfortable to carry.

Here's a link I found to amazon (USA) which has it.

I travel to the US alot, and I've got one of these roller bag things. I can confirm I've had 4 days worth of clothes (3 shirts+kegs, socks, and spare pare of trousers), a laptop (and charger), a paperback, toiletries, and an A4 book/pad. It was a squeeze, but it all went in. I bought 2 from QVC, one for my missus too. It has exandable zip sizes, so you zip it up for the overnights, or open it out for those longer ones.

heres the model if you're interested.
