New bike ideas.

Hey guys. Had my beloved Hornet 600 for over a year now and have done about 20'000 miles on her. So I am thinking about replacing her soon. I love everything about the Hornet but would like a little extra grunt low down.I was considering a 900 Hornet until I read a few reviews about them being slower top end and not as much fun as the Hornet 600. I want something that is a hooligan tool, capable of being ridden very hard, but also has the comfort to be used as a commuter and tourer but it must be fairly light. I don't want a lardy beast! A bandit 12 or 6 is out of the question. Far too boring and the suspension is naff.

Any thoughts?

I'd say a Z1000 would tick most of your boxes........Rapid run for cover

Still, your point on Bandit suspension still probably applies to the zed too, as you know

955i Speed Triple would be top of my list (and in fact is top of my next bike list!)

Z1000 is not on the list as I've already owned one. Loved the look of it but the suspension was a bit budget for the money. Engine was pretty torquey though but wanted something that went a bit higher than 9'000rpm. Maybe I'll check some speed triples out. I want something that will wheelie easily on power alone.

Just get a litre sports bike? You can commute and tour on them as they ain't as uncomfortable as the 600's in my experience. No trouble with power wheelies.

Granted they get a bit hot in town so you need to filter and avoid spending time in stationary traffic but apart from that you have everything.
