Coming into Leeds on the A64 on a very wet Thursday morning on the CB... Jag changes lane on me a couple of times... Next thing I know I'm sliding along with my bike on the tarmac, thinking it would be good if I don't go through car in front and end up near the grass verge in the central reservation. Progress was impeded by hitting innocent Kia MPV... fortunately only real damage to his car is punctured off side rear tyre.
Get up and check bike... tank a mess, big dent... handlebars arranged like racing bikes point inwards about 12 inches apart. My immediate reaction is write off but frame seemed untouched. Nice policeman turns up and he, Kia driver and I manhandle bike onto a slip road... I notice my knees and ribs hurt and I'm pretty sure my left arm is bleeding as there's a nice warm feeling inside my jacket... Recovery service arrives after 25 minutes and take me and bike to my usual dealer... when asked where they want it.. female mechanic points to skip! My PA picks me up in her car and takes me to work... female colleagues all say I should go to casualty to get checked over particularly after I drip blood onto the carpet... swelling the size of small egg on elbow... I insist on working being a man and a hero... At lunchtime decide I'd better go to casualty cos if I don't Mrs VOB and female young Bambers will make me later and I reckon morning rush will have subsided. It turns out I have broken a small bit of bone from my elbow so excellent male Mauritian staff nurse who has referred to bikes as 'two wheeled coffins' puts arm in a temporary cast... Trip to fracture clinic on Monday... I think what happened was too much front brake avoiding Jag on wet road when not fully upright... Apart from sore arms and ribs and feeling a bit shaken up I'm okay but will definitely be doing an advnaced rider course as have clearly used up one of my nine lives... |

Sorry to hear of your fall fella. I am impressed that you have identified the cause immediately and have been positive in seeking to improve aspects of your riding that you feel are lacking. Well done.
