I've got a load of old photo's of me and my dad - I'm hoping to one day put them all into a frame as a sort of montage thingy - most are monochrome - they have some personal wotsit value but I think soem are rather good. Apologies for the quality of the one below...I am scannerless and had to take a photo of the photo - hence the reflection of the flash...guesses welcomed for the make/model of the car - and no - I'm not giving you a time period clue as to when the pic was taken - well, not yet anyway!! (Twas quite a while ago mind!!

Consul Capri, my dad had the Consul Classic. That pic must be mid 60s. My dad bought his Classic new in 1962, just after I was born.

![]() ![]() The Capri was red with a white roof and can be seen in one of two films - not sure which - either 'The Plank' with Tommy Cooper or Casino Royale (David Niven version) - can't remember which but I do recall the car was parked outside the cinema and when the punters came out from seeing whatever movie it was, they were quite impressed!! ![]()

My Dad's Classic was a 1340cc version in Primrose Yellow with a White roof registered 29 RU. He sold it in early 1966 just before we moved to Singapore. |

Another one here whose father ran a consul. I briefly remember it, until it was replaced by a mk1 cortina, and then an Austin 1300 and Jaguar mk X. At that time my mother ran a herald. The Jag went to be replaced by a mk 2 cortina, followed by a mk 3. I was far too young to remember the actual model numbers.
My father was a consulting automotive engineer and claims assessor. Which meant we always seemed to have loads of cars. At one point we had over 30 queued up down the drive and it was us kids job to wash them and start them up every day. Both the austin 1300 and the cortinas mk2/3 were write offs that were re bodied. I can remember helping dad trim out the body swap of the austin in about 65 and getting Evostick all over my hair from where he had applied it to fit the roof lining. Oh happy days. I wish I had some photos of that era. My parents took loads. I just don't know where they went. I think my mother would have destroyed any with his picture in (Evil old witch) I only have one photo of my dad taken about 10 years ago. I am going to have to ask his widow

My dad had a metallic green Ford Cortina 16E. He used to have it lifted on jacks every night so the tyres wouldn't distort! Had to remove my shoes to enter it and once I forgot and got a smack in the head! I remember him buying shoe polish 'nugget' by the box to apply it to the tyres. He finally sold it to get money for building plot for a new house. He cried that day, only time I remember my dad crying, I was 12 and wished I could buy it back for him. Still do.
