I recently installed a clear alternatives tail into my '04 SV 650 so I could remove the stock plastic tail that was there to hold the blinkers and plate. I did it all great and the install was pretty easy. I also had the Clear Alternatives flasher unit installed to slow the blink rate back down to normal speed.
I had it all working fine while I had the bike apart (the tail off) but something happened while I was putting it back together and between the time I had the tail fairing off and until I had the bike put back together, who knows. Know when I click the blinkers in either direction, or the hazards, the lights energize just fine -- the yellow comes on -- but they don't blink. They just come on solid. Has anyone else run into this or know what's going on? I thought I may have to replace the CA flasher, that being the culprit, but I retouched the leads back to their original pins on that little box next to the fuses with the same result. What does the CA flasher unit actually control? What does the box next to the fuses actually control? Is it possible something happened in the ECU of the bike? Thanks for the help, Matt |

Does the bike still run? If yes then there's nothing wrong with the ECU and related parts.
Indicators: The wires you've moved originally went to a flasher unit and CA have supplied you with a new unit suitable for your new indicators. Now I'm not familiar with CA stuff but they all do the same thing, in this case as the unit is swapped for an alternative then I'm going to guess that the new indicators are LEDs, yes? The resistance of LEDs is different to that of bulbs and the indicators would flash at an unsuitable rate. Your new unit is suitable with the LED loading to give an appropriate flash rate. As with all electrical problems, (and particularly with 'worked before I put the bodywork back on' type problems), check all the wiring in the areas that you have disturbed, is there a damaged or trapped wire?
