Default Is Rejetting Necessary for All Exhausts

I have an '01 sv650s. What a great bike. My only problem with it is that the exhaust isn' t worthy of the rest of the bike. I've seen slip-on's-- and I'm certainly capable of installing one, however, I'm not so interested (or talented) with respect to carburetion. And the pipe has to be cut to install, so there's not going back if it doesn't work well.

So if anyone knows... do the carbs have to be rejetted if you install a slip on exhaust, or is there a slip on that requires no jetting?

It's the generally held view that a can on its own won't make enough difference to need a rejet. It's when you start playing with air filters and such that it can go really lean.

Mine picked up a slight flat spot with the can on due to the 33bhp kit messing things up.

You can go back from cutting the can with a £4 connecting sleeve and £0.06 worth of exhaust sealant to put the original can back on.

In conclusion, stop being wet and go buy an angle grinder, let that Vtwin sound like it should

I put the sexiest pair of Akropovics on my SV1000 and without any need to redo anything. I was told I would need a power commander, a friendly bank manager and a mortgage.

Instead I have a very noisy v twin thats only fault is that the baffles keep falling out

I suppose if you are nit picking I could say it has a very slight hesitation about 1200 rpm as you turn out of a side road. Its never stalled though and it sounds awesome.

Get that black and decker out
