Hi Everyone
I have my second lesson tomorrow ![]() ![]() ![]() If there is only ONE good piece of advice you could give someone about learning to ride a bike, what would it be? I know this will probably be hard as there is so much to learn, but would be good to know what you think is most important.. ![]() |

listen very carefully and don't feel a wally for asking obvious questions. Your instructor is a professional rider and gets paid to train you properly. Lots of people have different ideas of how to ride a bike. I for one ride how I was taught. Why?? because way back when i did my CBT i wanted to become an instructor because I felt there weren't enough Laydeez about as instructors. A few years on I have a clean license and a few years no claims. I haven't persued as yet...but I ride safe because I listened and asked. And don't forget to constantly look in your mirror and do the lifesaver look A LOT.

Watch out for that tree!
Actually, it'd be "The bike is better than you are". An awful lot of beginner crashes come not from overestimating grip or handling, but from underestimating it. My first crash was entirely avoidable, if I'd just trusted the bike and leaned more instead of trying to slow down, likewise lots of front-enders where people are only using half the braking power.

Where you look is where you go, looking at a wall will only help you to meet it, look past all obstacles.
