Default Vacuum leak?

Well I have a 2002 SV650 and my bike, after a few minutes of riding, will begin rise from a 1500rpm idle to 3-4k rpms and will only sink once I get out of first. Idle valve is fine, choke's always up. I'm assuming its a vacuum leak but I'm a new rider and I have no idea what to do about it.

Need help, thanks.

Default Re: Vacuum leak?

couple of quick checks, the vacuum take offs are still covered (have rubber caps on them), the carbs are seated properly and airbox on the rubbers, also check the choke cable is releasing both plungers and the splitter is working correctly.

standard tickover should be about 1,200-1,300 and not 1,500.

Cheers Mark.
