Default Gap in zaust link pipe

I was checking my oil last night, when i noticed a black sooty sort of mark on the link pipe between my sawn of stock pipes and my can, ( where it joins )
so i took it all off and cleaned it up and replaced it, making sure everyting was tight and secure.. started her up and put my hand near the link and im feeling the gasses escaping from there...
i think the black sooty stuff is my engine burning oil, because its all over the back of my zaust outlet too...
any ideas?

Mine too, nothing to worry about I suggest.
But check oil consumption. Some consumption is normal (Manufactures have successfully argued that 3 liters of oil consumption between service intervals would be acceptable consumption - so be aware)

I think the black soot is from the burning of petrol

if your worried just seal it with either some sealant or gungum. bit of a pain when taking it off as you need to do it all again.

Dry Soot is just the carbon from the engine, same stuff turns up on your plugs especially if it's running rich. Keep an eye on it but as long as the exhaust is secure I wouldn't worry.

If it's greasy and oily black stuff then I'd inspect closer.

Does your bike use a lot of oil?If not dont worry.
Does it use a lot of petrol? Are the plugs sooty too?If so it is running rich and needs a tune up.

if i fill it right to the top i get about 130 miles out of a tank, bearing in mind i have a massive dent in it.. lol, and im running an open race can
but no ive never noticed it dropping oil or losing oil its between the two lines on my oil indicator window... im just being paranoid again methinks lol,
