Default Braided hoses

Hi everyone. I'm on a technical war path today (also posted about a fueling problem in the megathread and offered some advice to hovis).

Ok, my front brakes are crap. There is alot of movement at the lever before anything significant happens when braking. Yesterday my dad bled the brakes using a vacum system, but no change in the otheral performance. I'm thinking that perhaps alot of the inital lever pulling is used to also expand the rubber hoses aswell as push the pads against the disc.

So, my question:

Is it worth investing in braided hoses to improve braking performance and feel at the lever? How much of an improvment (if any!) will I gain from such a modification?

Thanks,

Matt

yes....... braided hoses are a significant improvement on the front brakes...suzy has them on the front, but the black one does not and they are a pile of pap in comparison to Suzy.
I do have a set for the back upstairs but have been told on the Sv thay they can cause a prob like wheel locking and isn't advisable, so they aren't on her.
So yes yes yes get them on

I cleaned my bike the other day and bitta water on the rear still i'm guessing, well i hit the rear lever not too hard but enough and down to 3rd from 5th let the clutch out wheeeeeeeeeeeeee i've never seen my SV go 45 degrees but i'm guessing i werent far off, thats in respect to rear locking. But as for the difference to braided i couldn't tell ya whether its the braided lines that make a difference cos all my brakes are different to the standard anyway.

I dont think so, it goes pretty solid but its the initial squeeze. We passed alot of fluid through yesterday so there shouldnt be any air.

Maybe the cold weather is affecting it all?

And here is where plowsie strikes my "plan C". 1999 GSXR600 front end. New forks (gotta be better than standard SV ones) and also meaty brakes to boot.

Possible, but doubtfull otherwise I would be loosing brake fluid and the lever would come back to the bar, and be soft all the way?

I'll get some prices for braided hoses and see. £50 mod isnt too bad though

I do the hoses mate....if your sure its not air...the standard ones aren't up to much anyway, they don't stand the test of time much, i've never had a problem with the braided ones, they stop on a pin, but them others.....ooooooo they have to think before they stop you
