Not sure how it is beam pattern is on curvey/pointy headlights, ive got it on my 7R and seems to be clean, just need to get them adjusted a little.

Yes it does. The relay kit is nothing to do with the bike, its for the HID loom otherwise switching lights to high beam would not work. Normaly it comes with the HID kit, and always for the bi-xeon kits.

i can assure you that i have not fitted a relay... plugged kit straight into loom.. no extra power supplied via relay/battery... the only power going to the kit is via the original lamp socket... has been like this for 2000+ miles and has never given me any trouble...

mine is a bi-xenon 5000k slim digital ballast kit with polarity switches from hids4u...

That kit you have shown are not bi-xenon, they are just twin-xenon, what i mean by bi-xenon is that in one unit is both high and low beam. Reason for the relay in these cases is so that high beam power will move the bulb holder to simulate hi/low, the main live from the headlight loom will just power the relay and the main power for the balasts will come directly from the battery. Ive called hids4u and there seems to be some confusion about the relay kit and it depends on the wiring of the bike, but for the SV and most bikes, when you put high beam on the low beam stops supplying power to the balasts.

I used to have units like yours which did not give hi/low xenon and they as yours just connected to the loom.

ps. Update, hid4u have said that their new balast kits dont need relay kits and that the relay kit in the past was because there were issues with switching the balast on and off quickly. Personaly i would still install the kit on a relay, get direct power from the battery vs though the rubish wiring of the SV. Dont need to worrey on my ZX7R as it has a headlight relay anyway.

his are bi-xenon, but because he only has one bulb he probably doesn't need a relay, mine was the same, the HID4U H4 kits are both high and low beam

edit: unless by relay you mean the EM mechanism that pops the shroud in and out?

then you're talking about different things

his is still bi-xenon, but when he says "relay" he's referring to a direct battery connection to prevent the current draw on startup from popping the headlamp fuse

my mistake... the kit shown is a single lamp kit..

mine is defiantly an H4 bi-xenon as i have hi-lo lights.. the lamp pops in and out to give hi-lo... the slim digital ballasts are 'soft start' type and do not place as much load on the system on start up as the older ballasts...

Cannon Shots 103.jpg

as you can see all i done was install the kit they sent straight into the original lamp socket.. there is no connection to the battery apart from OEM loom..

it all connects via the one OEM connector to main loom...

but i agree that most people will require a relay to fit a HID kit... i was just saying it was not required to fit mine with the kit i got and the bike i have...
