Will probably have to wait a bit as hids4u don't have the H7 55w kit in stock at the moment, any other places worth checking?

What temperature do people go for? I'm thinking 5k...

I think that the 55w kits only come with 6k as colour temp atm which is a slight blue tinge to it.

Tbh i would of thought the 35w 5k would out shine it the 55w 6k, but dont quote me on the above as i may be wrong.

You're way off mate

Difference in light output of 5000K and 6000K kits would be totally indistinguishable, on the order of a few percent, it's only when you get into the stupid regions of the colour spectrum, 8000K-12000K, than the light output will drop off noticably.

55W 6000K would be significantly brighter than any 35W kit

I rigged mine up while it was in naked guise, using the pointy's round headlight... single 35W bixenon. It did work but not too well- big glare spot just slightly off to the right and near the top of the beam. It shone just slightly above where it ought to, so to compensate I had to aim the light lower than you usually would, which does effect the beam elsewhere (the alternative is to have a high beam which shines at eye level, not good).

This was all with the same kit that I use in my normal headlights to good effect so it wasn't a problem with the light, though of course it's possible that other variants might work better.

Still brighter than standard mind, considerably so, but I wasn't all that happy with it- brightness isn't everthing. Maybe I set too high a standard but I'm not sure I'd use it permanently as it was.
