Morning All.
I recently bought a Reg/Rec from a 2004 CBR600RR, as the unit in my Curvy had gone and fried my battery. ![]() Came to fit it this weekend, and apart from the CBR unit being bigger, with longer cables, there are also 2 extra wires going into one of the connectors (Curvy unit has 3 wires into 1 connector and 2 into the other, CBR unit has 4 going into the other). ![]() I knew i'd likely have to change the connectors, but what do I do about the 2 extra wires? Have I bought the wrong unit, or is this common, and how do I fit it now? many thanks Daz |

From memory-----
When I did this I spliced together the duplicate wires on the battery side to make the right number for the SV.Been fine ever since (Famous last words)

try searching the "D'Ecrosse" threads - you should find all you need there.

Mine was off a newer SV, but sounds the same as the CBR. Here is a bad pic of mine while I worked out where the wires went. Hope it helps & sorry for the bad pic.

Thanks for the replies, and the picture does help cheers!
I read the D'Ecosse thread, and to be honest it got a bit involved for me, but then I aint too bright! In the pic above, the blue insulated spade conectors is what i was going to use, but the D'Eccose thread suggested new sumitomo connectors. These seem relatively expensive for what they are, so are they really necessary? (looks like not in the pic above) Also the battery I had was a ytx9-bs, but i'm replacing with a 12, so should help. The old battery now has a slight deformed bulge in it. Would this have been a result of overcharging? many thanks Daz |

Mine still has those connectors on & it works fine. Sounds like the battery is buggered, for the price of a new one, I would replace it

If it has bulged it's knackered. You should replace it.
Wiring looks correct but those connectors aren't ideal, they're not too robust especially with salt on the roads, but they'll do for now. I'd replace them with normal crimps and solder them too. You can also improve it by running the feed direct to the battery instead of the OEM connector (via a fuse)

i've got a new battery coming this week, i was just curious what might have made the old one bulge!
![]() I've got some plastic connectors ordered. similar to sumitomo but smaller, apparently similar to those used in the oem wiring. Should all be here by weekend, so hopefully I can get back on the bike, ![]() Daz |

Overcharging releases hydrogen gas which causes the casing to swell.
