I think there's a big difference between the Cult of Celebrity and highly paid footballers.

The current batch of talentless, attention seeking, gobsh*te, reality show rejects who genuinely believe that 'being famous' is a valid career option are a far cry from talented, focused, dedicated sportsmen (and women) who earn far more FOR their employers than they do FROM them.

i dont think the difference is that big. there are many other sportsmen and women who i bet work a lot harder than footballers, get paid much less if at all. If it didnt make you famous, i bet there wouldnt be anywhere near as many footballer wannabes.

Of course not. But who the hell keeps on paying them when they get out. Seems to me the only talent they have is to get photographed outside a nightclub. What else do they DO?

Occasionally OD'ing? Can't complain at that TBH, it makes the papers some money and does the gene pool a favour.
