Smile Been riding a VN900 - and I like it!

My neighbour recently had a knee operation and asked me to keep her bike ticking over for her while she's laid up. It's a spanking new Kwak VN900 like the one in the picture and as such really not my sort of thing...

Anyway, it's bloody great! Went for a bimble out to a local bike haunt (Carbeth for all you Ecossers) and it was better than the SV! Help! What am I saying?

It's just, you know, big rumbly V-Twin, boatloads of torque, giant seat, no pressure to be Rossi... It was comfier through town (no weight on the 40 year old wrists see) fun (slow fun mind) on the open road and just a bloody good laugh. It's even good looking...

I don't know. I just wanted to share.

You are a very brave man to admit liking a VN900.

I'm sure others on this forum have strange or weird fetishes but you are the first to come out and say so.

Well done.

People often knock that sort of thing until they've tried it. I know what you mean about rumbly torquey v-twins cruisers being 'slow fun' as I had a Harley for years (alongside Ducati & SV). I bet that Mrs W would love this as she still hasn't forgiven me for selling the Harley. It looks like it'd make a good second bike (goes off to check the price).

Nope, I totally understand.

My old mans been into sports bikes since i was a nipper. Last year he got himselft something similar, a Yamaha I think. (His Benelli was written off). He loves it, very comfy for touring etc....

And the Augusta getting picked up at the end of the month

Personnally, i can see the attraction of comfyness for touring, but its not for me yet

Looks like the VN900 is a 'guilty pleasure' bike for you.

Mine is the Honda CG125. I did my 'apprenticeship' on a 1991 model, which meant a kick-start, and drum brakes all round, which were really awful. It was massive fun! The skinny cross-ply tires had huge amount of grip. The bars were very high so it was very easy to lean over.

Down hill, with my chin on the tank, feet on pillion pegs and a tail wind I got an indicated 75mph

My mate had the 1500VN.

Unfortunatly by the time I got my license it was unrideable.

Still may get a shot on it yet - he should be getting it back from repair next week, although they will have added an extra rear-wheel to it......

Well I'm very pleased there are so many like minded individuals here!

My only gripe is the leather chaps were kind of chafing me. Will they loosen off over time?

Near death expireance, 4 and half months of total blinding pain, a smashed knee, and the prospect of pain every mile I ride, even the indignaty of riding a scoot, but that, Huuuuuummmmmm, No, not while there's breath in this body anyway, it's a bimble machine and I don't do bimbling.

" it's a bike Jim, but not as we know it"

Cheers Mark.

You'll need an industrial sized tub of vaseline to stop that chafing.
