supposedly it helps the rear tyre grip better under power, though I don't know to what extent this is true. It sounds far nicer too

I'm all for smaller bikes. Less weight = faster.

+1 with my petite frame I would only have to get it lowered so smaller and lighter is best for me

hmmmmmm marginally, i bet this R1 is a fraction of a second faster to 60 and 100. Thats it. They are getting too small for normal sized people to ride.
Infact it could be argued its eaiser to increase the CC to acieve the same speed. My 6R is a lot lighter and smaller than the old 636 which his far more substantial in dimensions but only had 36cc more .Yet the older 636 is quicker where it counts. In some respects its a far beter road going bike than mine.

yes but unfortunatly the height is never lowered just length and width.

Way hay a IL4 worth listening to!

Other than the guggered up head lights I like it, nice looking. BUT tbh if there was ever anything wrong with the R1 (appart from engine config) it was the damn headlights... Common Yamara sort it!

You can rev it like a Il4 and you can optimise the burn better. It's all to do with surface area and accelerating mass.

Yes, it should do but it all depends how the motor is set to run. I would think that this particular type of engine would rev high, after all it is the flagship sports bike.

- is this the design inspiration?
