Did you charge the new battery before fitting?

Done reg rec diode test and results are:

Multimeter* Black - probe to red wire on reg/rec
MM*Red + probe to yellow #1 wire ON REG/REC = 0.574
MM*Red + probe to yellow #2 wire ON REG/REC = 0.575
MM*Red + probe to yellow #3 wire ON REG/REC = 0.574

MM*Red + probe to red wire on reg/rec
MM*Black- probe to yellow #1 wire ON REG/REC = 1.
MM*Black- probe to yellow #2 wire ON REG/REC = 1.
MM*Black- probe to yellow #3 wire ON REG/REC = 1.
**1. is the readout on multimeter when nothing is connected so no change**

MM* Red + probe to black/white wire on reg/rec
MM*Black- probe to yellow #1 wire ON REG/REC = 0.563
MM*Black- probe to yellow #2 wire ON REG/REC = 0.570
MM*Black- probe to yellow #3 wire ON REG/REC = 0.565

Multimeter* Black - probe to black/white wire on reg/rec
MM*Red + probe to yellow #1 wire ON REG/REC = 1.
MM*Red + probe to yellow #2 wire ON REG/REC = 1.
MM*Red + probe to yellow #3 wire ON REG/REC = 1.
Again no change on meter

MM* Red + probe to red wire
MM* Black probe to black/white wire = 1.

MM* Black - probe to red wire
MM* red + probe to black/white wire = 0.887

So any thoughts on readings?

Anyone done a reg rec diode test and were the results the same as above? Should i be getting a reading instead of the 1. i get? just so i know if its the reg/rec before i order another one.

I have never done a reg rec diode test.

2 criteria
If it is getting correct input (plenty AC volts, confirmed post 16) and not giving correct output (confirmed twice) then it is f***ed. Simples.

The readings look correct, but that's the "rectifier" part of the system. Since you don't have loads of AC frying your bike, or any burnt alternator coils, that's probably not the problem.

The other part of the reg rec is the crap bit, the regulator, it's old school tech which just dumps excess charge as heat, and is fragile. If you get a good new un they use MOSFET power transistors which switch the supply on and off, runs much cooler.

Right still not working right with brand new reg rec and brand new battery

Ignition off 12.86v
Engine at idle with lights on 13.30v
Engine rev at 5k with lights on 12.8v

So what am i missing here? Have done earth test light and have no problems either?

Test voltage between red wire at battery and live wire at reg rec, if this is couple of volts (DC) then that is where volts are going missing.

What reg rec you used?
