yeh good point on the tyre's mine are maxis high roller DH 2.35(i think)

and another good point about bike skills, the only other skill is wheelie balance points, they are pretty similar in terms of feel when you hit the sweet spot meaning it feels the same

im sure im more than 99kg, im 17 stone you will be wanting some decent probs 30psi + in your tyre's but best bet is to play around with them

As ive got the smaller valves, i need to get a gauge that will work on them, ive got an adaptor that can put the air in but a gauge wont work on it.

if the rims will take the standard shrader (sp?) valve then rip the presta tubes out and stick "standard" ones in so at least you have more of a chance at finding some where to pump the tyre's up when ure out for a ride a forget the pump

ps the rims usually have a small plastic reducer if they take both types of valve

I use a presta to schrader adapter to pump mine up, and my gauges all work fine when that's on. Got a Michelin 12250 (right angled end means it's dead easy for the motorbike as discs don't get in the way) as well as analogue pumps/gauges and have no problems with any.

Oh and I also bought a couple of spare adaptors from foreign eBay for pennies to carry when out riding incase I need air from a garage or something.

Think they may have small holes in rims also, my mate suggested same as he came round last night to look at it.
I got an adaptor that will take a standard airhose fitting, but my gauge wasnt working with it, so i can put air in, but atm would have to just feel the tyre to guess if its pumped up enough.

BTW, thanks Chris, will look at that.

Ordered me a new shock, should be with me at the end of the month... Its shocking (he he) that pretty much every shop has to buy them in, no one stocks them

Anyway, using rutlandcyling site and they seem to be on the ball so thats good.

Ah before I forget, got a 240-76mm Rockshox Vivid R2C shock coming. Happy days!

You need a pump with a pressure gauge mate. Obviously not for on the trails, but for at home a track pump with a gauge will let you set tyre pressure whatever type of valve you use. Also very useful for motorbike tyres, but I still use my bike gauge to check pressures on those.

Something like this http://www.allterraincycles.co.uk/product/105074.html

I'm having a great laugh just now... my hardtail's in bits and off to get powder coated (signal yellow, should be very, um, yellow) and I snapped the full suss in half a bit so waiting for a new swingarm (which I'm getting an upgraded version for free, despite not having any warranty, so that's ace- should have it all fixed within a week of breaking it. Glad it didn't happen in France though!)

So that leaves my £200 carrera with its rigid forks. Which it turns out, is completely fab in the snow and ice. Stuck some swampthings on it and the wheels off the hardtail, and it's become a slow moving but unstoppable force Took it to Glentress and had a laugh riding down snow covered rocks while people on enormous full suss bikes pushed down It's not very good really but what a laugh.

So ThEGr33k, who cares about your fancy "suspension", rigid is where it's at man. It's the future. Or the past, I get those 2 confused.

Mike, ive got a proper compressor at home with a tyre inflator with air pressure gauge on it, dont understand why it dont work, could have been me, i will try again.
Ive also got a 12v plug in jobbie so dont really wanna buy another inflator if i dont need to, but as they are so cheap, i'll get one if the present ones dont turn out to work that well.
