Choices, choices...the thing is I am a runner, but after the other night going running with the club didn't seem the same. The cycling club were much more friendly and I enjoyed it much more...

Am watching a few on ebay...last season Focus Cayo on wiggle looks ok too...

No advice, but the same thing has put me out of action for a good 6 weeks, I have a pro coming round to look at my whole set-up and see whats wrong

I took mine to the LBS for a proper fitting. It has made a big difference to the comfort, to the extent I did 80 hard miles last week with no sore knees/hips/back. I would normally have a twinge or two with those kind of miles. Muscles were sore, but that's fitness

I would recommend investing in a bike fitting if (like me) you are a novice in bike set up techniques. It cost £40 without using the 'body-fit' software, £80 with the software set-up. They put me and my bike on a turbo, measured a few things, watched me peddle at various intensities and positions and adjusted the seat height/lay-back, stem height, saddle angle, bar angle and so on. They would have adjusted cleats, but mine were correct. Worth it for the price of a pair of shorts.

After 6 weeks of hobbling around I can verify this to be true - just hope the guy can sort me out this w/end or I will have to find somewhere to 'fit me up'

I've been lucky as I don't suffer many aches or pains, although a proper bike fit is something I should do.

But as part of the bike fit, has anyone,or know someone, who has had the cleat wedges fitted or thermal moulded insoles done?

As I've got one leg thats quite a bit shorter than the other, I'm sure I would benefit from having cleat wedges fitted.

My mate got the full 'body-fit' thingy with computerised analysis at The Bike Factory in Chester. They fitted both cleat wedges and insoles to straighten up his 'gait' on the bike. He says it fixed his problems - can find out more tomorrow out on the ride if you want.

Yes please Mike, I am aware of my right leg being slightly outward, when I feel it should be straight

Sorry Mav, you were too late (was riding at 10) to jog my memory and I completely forgot about it. Certainly nothing wrong with Craig's 'gait' now, after watching him closely today as we had a two man chase to catch the leader who had time trialled off the front. 52 miles at 18mph average, we averaged 24 for 15 miles on the catch . Could be said I'm a little tired!

I will see Craig at spin class on Tuesday, so will ask about the wedges/insoles. Is there anything specifically you want to know.
