After it rained all day yesterday I didnt think I'd get out today, but it dawned sunny so out I went, arranged to meet up with a mate planned to do a 40 ish mile ride

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/84218862

Did a little more, legs were dead for the last 10 miles or so and I really struggled. Especially because of the monster headwind that seemed to blow in our faces for the entire ride.

Longest ride I've done since last year and the biggest ride I've done since I got knocked off. The look performed wanderfully, its beautiful to ride. So response and it climbs well to.

Similar distance to my ride on Wednesday Fizz and I died on the last bit home too

You need to try a bit harder though as you max HR isn't good enough

Mind you I've been struck down with a cold and sore throat since Thursday, so I'll be going like a bag of spanners next time out.

I didnt want to push it to hard today, I just wanted to get round the route we had planned.

I was taking it easy on the big climb at the start of that ride, ( well that my excuse and I'm sticking to it )

Well I was riding out into a headwind, and my peak HR was of course at the top of that hill.

I was trying to take it easy, as I knew a lot of the ride was into the freezing cold headwind of last week.

Maybe it was just too much, so I picked this cold as a result.

I haven't used garmin connect for ages...might give it a go later.

Cycled the hilly route to work this morning, with my legs still aching from football Saturday and actually managed it. Hamstrings are tight now though.

Cars/Vans/Buses are even worse on a cycle than when on the motorbike...I am getting a helmet cam I think.

Still haven't actuall bought a CF bike, but got an email from wiggle with this beauty attached http://www.wiggle.co.uk/giant-tcr-advanced-3-2010/ a bit over budget, but it does neatly negotiate my biggest hurdle to spending £1k plus on a bike (the missus) as I doubt she will notice the difference between that and my current Giant...what do you cycling folks think?

I have virtually given up running and using the motorbike now, instead opting for the cycle each time, which is a bit strange as when I'm commuting on the m/bike in winter I pray for sun. Then I got some and have only used the husky a handful of times...

Went for a shorter ride on Saturday, about 45 miles. 10 miles in and the heavens opened, we got ****ed on all day after that, except for the climb up the Horseshoe Pass. During the ride my friend's front mech packed up, so we had to improvise a fix to that onto the little ring (due to the impending climb up the Horseshoe) so that kept the speed down after that. By the time we got to the top of the Horseshoe we were mightily fed up, cold and wet. We succumbed to pie and chips in the Ponderosa and a bimble home.
