Not sure if this has been on here before, apologies if it has. Makes me glad I don't cycle in a city.

In Birmingham I think we are on the whole quite lucky - for the simple reason that we don't have the quantity of taxi drivers that London has.

My main issue is with bus drivers - constantly straddling the cycle lane - or overtaking you and immediately slamming brakes to pull into a bus stop.

You get a few idiots - but you will always get that.

Take it easy out there folks.
Blimey hadn't seen this until today, hope you're not so sore now LP & GWS

Shame about your mate, that's not good

LOL I am sore, I posted that this morning. My thumb is the worst as it dislocates easily due to a kayaking injury.... it was really ripped out of the socket by getting caught on the hoods... for most people this would be a sprain but for me it really smarts.... currently unable to grip anything tightly. Am I a big girl?

Dave is out of hospital and should be healed in 12 weeks, back cycling in 6 if he wants to... he had confidence issue anyway, this may be the end for him. Shame he just bought a new Ribble! My brother is off to see him on Wednesday so I'll get the full story then.

No, if it smarts, it smarts. At least its the crappy weather time of year, so if you don't go out its not the end of the world

Shame

My mate had a confidence issue too, which followed a nasty crash on a training ride too and then he had another spill in October, although he wasn't hurt, just a few little cuts & bruises, it won't have helped his confidence either.

I was in Dover a couple of weeks ago and I saw one of those special bike tour buses heading out for France and I was sorely tempted to jump on.

Mrs MattSV told me today that she was struggling for ideas for me for Christmas today, so I got online and ordered myself one of these on behalf of Santa:-

£165 from Chain Reaction including next day delivery, so at least I will have something to open on Christmas Day now

Although I don't have a problem getting on the turbo it is like being

You need a TV or sounds to get you through the dull bits, watching TDF helps too

I find the turbo mentally challenging to stay motivated, hence why I do spin classes. Plus I sweat so much I can only use one in the garage where it is cold and soulless. However if I could afford one of them super duper gizmo ones that simulate an actual ride, I'd have one. Pretending to ride up to Luz Ardiden again would be fun with pictures and everything....

Something like this....

Yes, that would help

To make it realistic as climbing Luz Ardiden, you'd need a sun lamp
