Had a lingering cold for about a week now just couldn't stay stuck inside any longer, took it fairly easy yesterday, still managed a 15mph average though.

Looks as thought there could be heavy rain Friday and windy the rest of the week

After the ride with dipper (50 miles at 15mph) Tuesday, my legs were shot, I'm not too good on the climbs and there were a few and I really struggled.

Managed to convince myself to commute today and wow - still struggled with the inclines (but they are few and not very steep) as my legs didn't feel too good up them, but with the tailwind, and pushing hard I was sitting at 28 on my garmin and overtaking cars the whole way in.

Smashed my PB, averaging 22.3 (PB was 20.1).

Ah I love cycling

Here's something to think about as a possibility

We've discussed having a Org rideout at somepoint, so here my suggestion, doesn't require a vote (we all know what happens there), because there's only one option

July 3rd 2012 - Ride from Calais - Bolonge see TDF stage & return to Calais.

By not taking the car and riding on the otherside it won't cost the earth, the coast road from Calais is quiet

No big miles, so no one has to be super fit, it'll just be a social ride.

All peeps will need to do is be at Dover at a reasonable time to catch the ferry.

I'm pretty sure I'll be going whatever, as this is the closest the TDf has been for a while (not counting London), but I've never ridden to see it before.

Quite possibly, it's a big ole step from here to Dover but do-able with an overnight stay before returning.... might be a 'different' ride for me and the boys...

Yep, I can do Dover & back to mine in a day, but its a long old day, so I may stop over on the way back.

Went to see a round of the National Cyclocross championship today, proper pro field, including ex cyclocross junior world champ and T Mobile/ Garmin Cevelo/Team GB pro Roger Hammond, in his last race.

The speed these guys ride on wet grass & mud makes your eyes water. Seniors race was an hour long and its full pelt from the start.

Twas an enjoyable afternoon watching, but I don't think I'll be signing up anytime soon.

Where is Bolonge?

I'm mighty tempted but I think it might be clashing with a cycling weekend away (or the weekend after one)

I'll keep it in mind and get back to you, if that's alright?

Yep, no hard and fast plans made yet, although I thought it was my off duty week, but I'd got that wrong.

Its not far to Italy from Calais , couple of hills to climb on the way, so compact gearing is recommended
