Yes it is. I use spin sessions as high intensity training and then do stamina work at weekends on club rides. I discovered whilst in the Pyrenees last summer that I can work much harder for longer than I thought I could. So I always work out at spin at 90%+ of HRmax as I was working in this range on the big climbs. Basically I taught myself to suffer in spin so I can suffer on the rides. This was proved last Sunday on the first ride back after a bit of a break, I was in the 90%+ zones for an hour of a 3.5 hour ride and at over 85% for all of it. I can now suffer, dig in and carry on after forcing myself to suffer in spin.

Yeah I can see that happening! It's great fun too, but a bloody nightmare! Hard work for sure, but definatley easier to dig in with all those ladies around
