Heh, I didn't stretch out properly afterwards and when I got out of the car you could probably hear my legs twanging from miles away

I did a total of approx 35 miles up and down the Downs Link at the start of this month. Got a bargain on some Hope Vision Fours last weekend but haven't used them properly in the woods yet. Might not do the 45km day run and do the night run that Girths doing. Night riding still sounds scary though.

Night riding's great... Just have to be a wee bit careful since there are less passers by to call an ambulance But I love it. Though it does help to have 1500 lumens of light to see by

I tried to go on a longer ride on sunday, but failed a bit due to the snow...



Such hard going, it was brilliant fun- and made my local trails much more difficult, the downhill sections were the toughest thing I've ever ridden- but I was completely beaten when I got home... My arms ached from the effort of keeping it on track on the snow and ice. I'll miss it when it's gone. Only managed about 10 miles, the original route plan was about 25 but I ended up stopping after the first loop, it'd taken twice as long as I thought. Just in front of the bike in this pic was a snow angel, after I dropped the wheel into that snow-filled hole I went straight over the front And turned around to find the bike standing upwards, looking at me with its one beady eye.

Still, new bike/build is working well... Knocked another kilo off it with the SLX cranks and XT/717 wheelset, and blingy XTR rotors. Still heavier than a Scandal should be at 12.1kg but it works for me, and it'll be expensive to get it down much further (well, I could stick on lightweight tyres, that'd lose almost half a kg, but I love these nevegals because they'll basically ride anything). New seatpost on the way too, since the old one is just slightly too short and has a stupid amount of layback.

Also, now I've got enough bits to rebuild my Kraken so I can sell it to my brother

Off to glentress again at the weekend, but somthing a bit different, my mates are in the trail building gang there so I've volunteered to see what it's like. Nice to do something practical after a week in the office fannying about.

I'd try and disagree with you, but I can't walk properly today so it might well be you're right Turns out I actually can't spend all morning digging holes and pushing wheelbarrows then go for a ride afterwards, I just die

Wooohoo!!! I went out on my MTB for the first time in 2 years today and did 10 miles.....**** is killing me now!

Well, finally got out on my MTB, done about 10mile on my RIGID Giant.

I think i'm going to get some Rockshox SID's at the end of the month after a few weeks of riding rigid.

Was good fun on the rigid though, teeth chattering, bone shaking decents!

Heh, I did a long descent on my local loop the other day thinking "Man, this is bumpier than I remember, did the snow kickstart some fast surface erosion? Is the ground still frozen?". Got to the bottom... Oops, fork was locked out, only had about 10mm of travel on

I've done that before!

Half away around Llandegla on a borrowed bike from a mate, thought it was rough and realised that i'd had the forks locked out since i started!
