Cycle to work is feeling the recession

Unfortunately it looks like people on existing schemes will also be affected.

Ooo, errr, what have we in here then???...........

I need a recommendation for a cycle computer

Doesn't need to be particularly fancy, have ~£25-50 to spend, haven't seen the market for almost a decade I spose so I'm a little behind the times...

Lovely stuff DC.

So many people are starting to ride push bikes recently.

One question, what sort of difference would having slick (ish) road tyres fitted make as apposed to having ''mild knobbly'' tyres on?

It's a Hybrid Dawes something or other if that makes any difference?

Wow... Been here 5 minutes and I can actually contribute...

Have ridden a friend's MTB with slicks and compared to my bike with the old Kenda Scorpions on it was like night and day, but my ride to work is 60/40% on/off road so slicks would be lethal in the wet

Been using Schwalbe Nobby Nic front and Racing Ralph rear for a couple of weeks now and the difference on road is great, while retaining some off-road grip. Still had a few moments in the wet where the Kendas would grip and the Schwalbes can give up, but I'm happy with the new setup

Not a huge difference over proper knobbly tyres, depends on the width of the tyre and what psi it inflates to. Pure road tyres pumpd up to 100psi will roll along better, and be a bit more puncture resistant

I've always used Cateye computers, but to be honest ones I've bought from Aldi & Lidl have also worked fine. The problem comes down to getting spare fitting kits with Aldi & Lidl ones. Which is where something like a Cateye is better

Halfrauds ones will be fine for a basic computer

So fitting a fat slick to a mtb wheel would work ? as opposed to trying to fit road wheels and tyres to an mtb, if that makes any sense
