Guys, I had a ride in this morning to work. Couldn't get any decent speed downhill at all (roads). I looked down for some reason when I had almost got to work and noticed there is a slight kink in the rear wheel. Is it likely to be that, or was I just been a poof this morning?

And Ta for the info on the forks. I shall try pookies suggestion and invest in a good saddle and stick it out for a bit. The thing is, I must have done well over 1000miles on the bike when I first got it. So I could just get used to it again.
Thank you, writing it out put it all in perspective. Which is why I used silly pictures really.

Good luck with the bike and happy riding.

Maybe...
Most likely a damaged wheel, get it looked at by your local bike shop, they may be able to book your bike in for repair.

Continuing my theme of "Things I have ridden", we went to drumlanrig castle at the weekend- lovely place, and since the foot and mouth outbreak they have some waymarked bike trails there, about 26km of black and red. (If you've seen Home, it's in it) Absolutely fantastic, it doesn't see many riders so the trails don't have to be heavily surfaced and bombproof, and rik the trailbuilder's able to leave in all the roots to give natural techy bits. (he is a C*CK though, had a wee chat with him and he started having a go at the glentress trailbuilders for being "too industrial", his trails probably see as many wheels in a year as glentress red does in an afternoon. We were there on a nice warm sunday afternoon, and it was still quieter than glentress at 10pm on a wednesday night in january. A day of the traffic GT red sees would leave nothing but a swamp at drumlanrig. But he makes lovely trails)

The black was just a bit too much for me, I had a crack at almost all of it but 2 bits just stopped me dead, and another bit I took 4 runs down and almost cleared eventually but the last time it almost flicked me off a cliff, so I chickened out. Really cool though, all the designed-in difficulty of a trail centre without actually feeling like it was purpose built. The red might be a little bit dull for the speed-lovers, but the black's a step above glentress I reckon. The big difference is that you don't get freestanding sections, even the hardest technical bits have rough entrances so you can't easily set yourself up.

You've got the disc model, right? Shouldn't make any odds unless it's rubbing the frame and you'd notice that... if you had vs then a warped wheel would rub but not discs obviously (bent wheels are usually fixable, it's easy if you know how and completely impossible if you don't, you end up with something that's just as bent and also egg shaped...)

Checked the tyres? Tyre pressure makes a big difference on the road

2. I'm suprised you cant go downhill fast.
3. I build my own wheels and do you want me to pop over and sort yours out?

Just been out on mine tonight, didnt go far but did manage to put the front forks to test.

I have to admit that I'm disappointed with the build quality of the Rockhopper. Ive had it over a year now but havent used it a great deal and quite frankly, it doesnt stack up to much cheaper stuff I used to own years ago. Ive worn the paint through on the pedal arms, chipped a little bit of paint off the top tube and the bike doesnt feel as solid as it should. I am tempted to chop it in and buy something else but nobody would believe that the bike has done little mileage. I wash it every time it goes out for a ride and yet Ive noticed rusting on the disc bolts.

Anyone else had probs with Specialized? Its still under warranty but I know they'll claim wear and tear.

The quick release paint has been a standard thing for years now.

I had a few of the m2 stumpjumpers years ago when I was racing, snapped 2 and bent 1

I seem to remember the shop stating that maybe I was a little too harsh on them...

Moved onto kona the year after.

Did this today

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLP5qHz2NIY

(i have blue bike, blue helmet)

Been riding for about a fortnight now and it's a lot of fun. The bike cost a huge £85 from amazon. I'm sure a more expensive/better bike would be awesome!!

Nice track! If you go on bikeradar or suchlike you'll get everyone telling you that your bike is worthless and will break as soon as you ride it Doesn't look like it from here...
