Yes, they do stack up well at the upper end of their range. Mine are like comfy slippers.

I looked at a pair of Sidi shoes, I think as a biker it helps that you already know the name and quality but plumped for the Louis Garneau XR3's because they were buttons. TBH I still haven't tried my XR3's for more than 300yds, far to many vents to be wearing them the now, but they're plenty comfy just wearing them If they only last a year I can't complain at the price.

Colin I dunno how you cope riding through that bit of Glasgow, it's madness at the best of times never mind in the dark when the monsters are out...

Yarrghhh knee pain!!

Went from a slight niggle to a show stopper, in my strong knee as well! Some googling says it's common (front of knee/knee cap) and that it's probably not just going to go away...

Any tips you guys? Already raised saddle heights, but it's weird it's just started in the last 3 weeks when I have been cycling a lot for the last 6 months or so!

Tight hamstrings & quads cause my left knee to hurt in a similar way to what you're describing.

So look up some stretches.

If you've raised your saddle, then lower it?

From an inexperienced mind, I was staggered how high I ended up putting my seat to stop sore knees. It's now sitting level with the top of my hip when I stand next to the bike. I hope you get it sort AJC. We've got cycle runs to go out on. We'll need to drag Colin out with us too.

Talking muscle pain does anyone on here use a muscle roller, and is it worth it?

saddle setback can also have an affect on knee pain too.

As for muscle rollers, yes ive got a foam one and a hand held roller one. The foam one hurts like hell when using it for a tight IT band, and I've found stretching to be of more use. The hand held roller is ok, but as to any benefit, i couldn't say for certain.

Cheers lads

I will get with the stretching, after giving it a rest for a few days to let the tendons loosen. My saddle was maybe a bit low when it started which is why I have tried raising it now. Unfortunately I haven't stopped long enough for the knee to recover to tell if the raising is making a difference.

Yeah Dean hoping to get out proper soon as the weather maybe starts to look up. To be fair I can cycle okay just now with painkillers but it is gradually getting worse.

Never used muscle rollers here!
